Research Symposium on Computing Conclave of NITs (CoCoNITs-2016)

Three days research symposium on "Computing Conclave of NITs (CoCoNITs-2016)" will be organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NITK Surathkal during October 14, 2016 to October 16, 2016. This CoCoNITs 2016 is the first of its kind, being organized at NITK Surathkal, Mangalore, where in all 31 NITs participate from the departments of  Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Applications.
The main concept is to have a research symposium where (a) the CS/ IT/MCA academic research community from all NITs come together, share their research potential, know each other in all 31 NITs (who is who), collaborate with each other for making the research outcome more stronger and contribute to a stronger academic and research for Nation's growth, (b) listen to eminent speakers from academia and industry and to discuss and collaborate on future research trends in computing with them, (c) present the latest work in a "doctoral symposium",  and, (d) participate in a research panel where in how NITs (from computing domain) can contribute (together) for the new initiatives of Govt. of India such as "make in India" , " digital India", " smart cities",  etc.  associated with research.

Who Can Attend

  • A representative team consists faculty and research scholars from NITs.
  • The team must belong to CSE or IT or MCA branches.
  • Preferably a Faculty who is involved in active research.
  • Preferably Research Scholars who are in the second or third year of the study.

Note: Total number of participants is limited to 60. No restrictions for the number of participants from each participating institute. The participants will be selected on FCFS basis. Kindly send your nomination as early as possible.

The agenda includes keynotes addresses, faculty presentation, poster presentation and doctoral symposium.

  • Keynote Addresses: Eminent and distinguished researchers from academia and industry will deliver a keynote addresses across a wide variety of CS research areas.
  • Faculty Presentation: Each participating NIT team will be given 30 Minutes to present their research potentials, areas of research,  research culture, and so on.
  • Poster Presentation & Doctoral Symposium: Each Research Scholar will be allowed to showcase their original and on-going research work in the form of posters at the symposium. Selected posters will be presented at the Doctoral symposium.
  • Research Panel Discussion: All NITs representative team can participate in a research panel where in how NITs (from computing domain) can contribute (together) for the new initiatives of Govt. of India. such as "make in India" , " digital India", " smart cities",  etc.  associated with research.

Poster and Doctoral Symposium

Each research scholar is expected to submit a poster in the prescribed format (format will be uploaded soon - keep visiting the website) to showcase their original research work. Finally, the selected posters will be allowed for presentation at doctoral symposium to discuss and get feedback from the renowned researchers in the respective research fields.

  • No registration fee for the participating team.
  • The duly signed Team Nomination Form (scanned copy) must be uploaded to the symposium website during online registration to confirm the registration.
  • The registration includes: Registration Kit, Certificate of Participation, working lunch and tea/snacks.

Since this event is supported by TEQIP-II of NITK Surathkal, nominees / participants are expected to take TA and accommodation charges from their respective TEQIP-II / NIT / Institute fund. Therefore, TA is participant’s responsibility and accommodation on payment basis can be arranged at NITK campus or at Surathkal or at Mangalore City.
